Raj is the head and a Partner of FIDES Commercial and Property team. He is also the head of the Malaysian Business Department. Raj brings to FIDES Lawyers extensive experience in Property, Commercial and Litigation law. He is admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor in Malaysia and a Solicitor in England & Wales. He is also admitted as a solicitor in Queensland and is a Legal Practitioner in Victoria. Raj ‘s qualification and experience in three jurisdictions enables him to provide insightful advice to his clients.
Prior to joining Fides Lawyers, he had gain invaluable experience as a solicitor in a large Brisbane Law Firm as well as in a legal practice in Victoria. He also practised as a solicitor at Abdul Raman Saad & Associates (ARSA), a city firm located in Kuala Lumpur where he focused on Banking, Company, IT and IP issues, which included domestic and cross border work.
As a lawyer he has had extensive experience in commercial and corporate matters and advises extensively on commercial and property matters. His work includes mergers and acquisitions, directors’ duties, joint ventures, advice on strategies for corporate goals within a legal framework, compliance strategies and general commercial documentation.
He has on a pro-bono basis assisted the Malaysian Housing Ministry in drafting the revamped housing laws in 1999, he is also the founding member of the House Buyers Association in Malaysia (1999), a former committee member of Australia Malaysia Business Council (QLD) and has participated in several pro-bono related work which promotes understanding and cooperation between Australia and Malaysia in the Media field (CITIZENBYTE : New Media and the Informed Citizen; DFAT, Australia Malaysia Institute 2009). He also has writes and has his works has been published, he works includes being a Co-Author of Privacy and Data Protection rights in Malaysia (Lexis Nexus, Malaysia, 2005)
